BOOM! är en kvinnoseparatistisk glasgrupp bestående av Sara Lundkvist, Nina Westman, Matilda Kästel, Ammy Olofsson och Erika Kristofersson Bredberg. Tillsammans jobbar BOOM! med projekt som handlar om att bryta stereotypa normer inom glasscenen och att ge fler unga möjligheten att bekanta sig med glas och konsthantverk. Vid sidan av gemenskapen i BOOM! är de alla även aktiva i sina enskilda konstnärskap.

I sitt projekt ”Empowerment”, som handlar om systerskap och att skapa nya förutsättningar för en feministisk plattform för konsthantverket glas, har BOOM! i linje med sin filosofi och do-it-yourself anda själva byggt en mobil glashytta, som ger dem möjligheten att hålla workshops och visa upp glasblåsning på nya platser och för ny publik. I samband med bygget av Spajsy, som de kallar den mobila glashyttan, har de gett ut en bok som på ett lekfullt sätt berättar om hela processen. Boken är illustrerad av Emma Rendel och formgiven av Parasto Backman.

I utställningen visar BOOM! objekt från deras samarbete, i kombination med en presentation av boken BOOM! (utgåva 2) som på ett lekfullt sätt beskriver BOOM!’s process med att bygga den mobila glashyttan.

För den platsspecifika installationen i rummet hos Barklund & Co har BOOM! valt att samarbeta med Siri Hagerfors, grafisk formgivare och bildkonstnär, som kommer att skapa en muralmålning/väggmålning.

Barklund & Co är ett interdisciplinärt projektrum med fokus på konsthantverk. Barklund & Co visar omkring 4 utställningar per år och intresserar sig extra mycket för dialoger, samarbeten samt det berättande konsthantverket.

BOOM! is a female separatist artist group working with glass. Their aim is to create new opportunities for a feminist platform in the field of glass. BOOM! consists of Sara Lundkvist, Nina Westman, Matilda Kästel, Ammy Olofsson and Erika Kristofersson Bredberg. Besides the collectivity in BOOM! they are all also active in their individual artistry.

In their project ”Empowerment”, that is all about sisterhood, power and self-esteem, BOOM! have themselves built a mobile glass studio from scratch, all in line with their philosophy and do-it-yourself spirit. The mobile glass studio, called Spajsy, gives BOOM! the opportunity to hold workshops and showcase glass blowing in new places and for new audiences. In connection with the construction of Spajsy they have also published a book that in a playful way tells about the whole process. The book is illustrated by Emma Rendel, with graphic design made by Parasto Backman.

In the exhibition BOOM! will display some objects from there collaboration, in combination with a presentation of the book BOOM! (edition 2) that playfully describes BOOM! ’s process of building the mobile glass studio.

For the site-specific installation in the room at Barklund & Co, BOOM! will collaborate with Siri Hagerfors, graphic designer and visual artist, who will create a mural.

Barklund & Co is a project-based exhibition room for the arts of craft. They host exhibitions about 4 times a year and are specifically interested in dialogues, collaborations and the storytelling craft.
