Swimsuit Edition is a narrative exhibition, taking place in a fictional swimming pool changing room as the girls prep and preen themselves for the awaiting male gaze in the pool. Telling a story that is darkly humorous and tinged with tragedy. Using familiar images and logos to lure us into the world, a world that coexists as two binaries at once – the female form and the shapeless, cute and ugly, utopia and dystopia. These characters are performing an idea of femininity for the benefit of everyone but themselves. They are captured at the point of their transformation; they are backstage, preparing for their performance. Looking in the gallery we become voyeurs intruding on this private, bordering on secret ritual. Stepping into the gallery we are forced to confront our intrusion by moving through the space – either disrupting the transformation or becoming part of it.

Amy Worrall (b. 1989 in U.K.) is a sculptor working in ceramic. Her sculptures are a physical manifestation of her research into different ways of looking at girls and what it means to be a woman in the digital age, all skewed visions of self-portraits. Drawing from her background in illustration she creates ceramics that tells the story of her girl gang. She is a graduate of Central Saint Martins, London. In 2018 she completed her Master of CRAFT! at Konstfack, University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm.

Swimsuit Edition är en narrativ utställning som utspelar sig i omklädningsrummet i ett fiktivt badhus där tjejerna fixar till sig inför mötet med den manliga blicken som väntar vid bassängkanten. Den berättar en historia kantad av mörk humor och tragedi. Genom en bekant bildvärld och med hjälp av bekanta logotyper lockas vi in i denna binära värld där existens innebär Kvinnlighet kontra Formlöshet, Söt eller Ful, Utopisk eller Dystopisk. Dessa karaktärer utövar en idé om kvinnlighet som gagnar alla utom dem själva. De är fångade i ett ögonblick i transformation; de är backstage, de gör sig redo för sitt uppträdande.

Amy Worrall (f. 1989 i Storbritannien) är keramiker och skulptör, med en bakgrund inom illustration. Hennes skulpturerna är fysiska manifestationer som berättar historier om att vara kvinna idag. De keramiska illustrationerna om hennes tjejgäng kan ses som skeva visioner av självporträtt. Amy Worrall har utbildat sig på Central Saint Martins i London, och 2018 tog hon en magisterexamen i CRAFT! på Konstfack, Stockholm.
