To frame something is to establish a perspective. To frame something is to make a demarcation. My work is based on photographs. Often taken by myself. The motif changes during the painting process and becomes independent, looses its links to the photograph when I remember or get in contact with long forgotten moods, sensations and feelings. The colours, theme and composition set the scene and indicate the feelings. The paradox is that even though mood, feeling and atmosphere are impalpable they are visible – but never static. There is always an exchange between the viewer and the artwork. Inside the frame feelings can mix, change, fight or flee. Interaction is unavoidable.
